Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has promised he will freshen up QPR for the trip to Leeds on Tuesday night - the club for whom he played 69 times between 1997-99.

That was a club then still a Premier League force, and not the set-up that lurches from one unsettling headline to another. But JFH insists the current squad under Steve Evans still poses a formidable threat.

“On the day, they are a difficult side and you have to respect them,” the Rs head coach added.

Junior Hoilett and Massimo Luongo were left on the bench for the 3-2 defeat to Middlesbrough on Friday after returning from long trips representing their countries, as revealed by GetWestLondon.

However, it looks as if the pair will be restored to the starting line-up, possibly at the expense of Ale Faurlin and Matt Phillips. Seb Polter also got though a tremendous shift against Boro, and Conor Washington stands by to get a start.

JFH chuckled when asked if he was glad to be facing the current Leeds rather than the one he played in 17 years ago.

“Well, look Leeds is Leeds; they have a beautiful, big crowd behind them," he said. "But those (90s) days are gone. We need to go there with a lot of positivity and try and to get our football the same ways as Boro, but get three points this time.

“I will freshen the side up, because it will be another energetic game.”
