QPR assistant manager Marc Bircham said last season was "a mixed bag" after an inconsistent season at Loftus Road.

The Hoops erratic form led them to finish the season in 18th place in the Championship, but Bircham says their are positives to be taken.

He said: "Looking back it was a mixed bag where we had two losing streaks of six games where we could easily have won most of them that we played in.

"You never want to lose games.

"We got the tag of being unlucky, which as coaches you hate because you don't want to be unlucky.

"But we had some good bits and some really good games. We went on a good winning run and turned our home form around. In the January transfer window we got some players in who the fans took to.

"The unity that we had in the squad was a big bonus.

"All in all we managed to stay up which was the objective when we came in, but i wish we could have ended on a bit of a high note."
