A QPR howler between Rob Green and Grant Hall gifted Hull their second win on the spin at Loftus Road.

The margin of one goal was the same as August 2014 - but the Rangers misery was even deeper after Sebastian Polter looked to have rescued a point with a terrific header.

A pin-point cross from the left was met by the striker's head on 85 minutes to find the top corner, but with added time beckoning Hall and Green got in each other's way to gift a cruel winner to sub Adama Diomande.

Unlucky: Grant Hall

The ball hit the Hull sub rather than the other way round and rolled over the line to herald a charge to the exits from home fans.

In truth, City looked the better side for most of the game, and Polter's second goal on the trot came out of nowhere.

Little of consequence greeted a televised match that may have seen a few nodding off in front of their sets.

Early on, a Mohamed Diame curler gave Green diving practice as it missed his far post. The recalled Tjaronn Chery did much the same thing with a rising shot.

And then on 17 minutes, first Junior Hoilett and then Polter made a meal out of getting a shot away inside the box and watched the chance of an early lead swallowed up.

Challenge: Sebastian Polter feels the City force

A corner cleverly won by a back-heel from Hall against a Hull shin flashed across goal and ended up back with Ale Faurlin. His shot on the angle had plenty of venom - but also too much lift as it flew just over.

The Argentine then had the misfortune for the ball to hit him from a corner, rather than the other way round to again see the ball balloon over.

The Hull first goal, when it came, was the difference between a side with minimal threat and one with a bit of poke.

Mohamed Diame's curled cross with the outside of his right foot from the left was met sweetly first time by Abel Fernandez who guided the ball past Green's despairing left hand.

Polter looked as if he had clawed back a point, but Rangers are winless in six and the remaining Rs supporters let it be known at the final whistle.
