Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink still waits for a first win as QPR boss after a home draw with Huddersfield.

Sebastian Polter's close range finish nine minutes from time for an otherwise toothless Rangers looked to have sealed three points for the new man in charge.

But Nakhi Wells' fabulous free-kick five minutes later saw that hope go for a burton. It also means it is four points from 15 for a man required to 'hit the ground running' by Director of Football, Les Ferdinand.

Busy: Rob Green

A forgettable first 45 saw Huddersfield on top with Rob Green parrying Wells' 20th minute header to safety, while a dipping shot off target from Boxing Day scorer Junior Hoilett was all Rangers could muster in response.

With three potential centre-forwards on the bench and so little threat on the pitch, home fans showed their frustration with boos greeting the half-time whistle.

Rangers finally fashioned a big chance just before the hour when Paul Konchesky's cross found Phillips unmarked at the far post.

His shot was parried out by Joe Murphy straight to Karl Henry just outside the six-yard box, but his header was weak and blocked by a defender.

No go: Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink still awaits a win as QPR boss

Strikers Polter, Tjaronn Chery and Jay Emmanuel Thomas were all unleashed from the bench in the final half hour and after Green saved Joe Lolley's shot at the other end, it was Polter who broke the deadlock, sliding in to score from an acute angle.

Sadly, the elation lasted just four minutes before Wells levelled matters with a delicious 25-yard free-kick into the top corner past Green's clawing right hand that put a first JFH win out of reach.
