Chelsea fans are funding the club’s quest for silverware - with BBC Sport’s fourth Price of Football survey revealing the high price Blues supporters must fork out to watch their side

At £57, no club in any English division charges its fans more for the cheapest available matchday ticket, a programme, a pie and a cup of tea.

The Blues' cheapest matchday ticket will set fans back £50 - the country’s costliest.

The closest any teams come are Manchester City and Liverpool, both of whom charge £37 for their cheapest matchday ticket.

Chelsea’s ticket is almost double the Premier League average of £28 and the club’s season tickets are some of the most expensive in the league too.

At £750 Chelsea’s have the third most expensive of the cheapest season tickets offered by clubs.

Only Tottenham (£765) and Arsenal (£1014) have offer more expensive season tickets in the lowest price category.

The most expensive season ticket for the Bridge will set a fan back £1,250, again the league’s third most expensive with Arsenal the costliest at £2,013.

The most expensive matchday ticket costs £87, the second highest in the league behind Arsenal’s £97.

But its not all high prices at Stamford Bridge.

A program at will set fans back £3, that’s 20p below the league average.

Pies are just £2.50, 79p below the league average, and tea is just £2, a saving of 15p on the league average.

The Hoops' most expensive season ticket is the fifth most expensive in the Premier League according to the survey.

Fans would have to pay £949 for the top tickets, more only topped by Manchester United (£950), Chelsea (£1,250), Tottenham (£1,895) and Arsenal (£2,013).

The Hoops’ cheapest season ticket is perhaps more reasonably priced at £499, just £9 below the Premier League average.

A day out at Loftus Road will set fans back £33.40 for the cheapest available matchday ticket, a programme, a pie and a cup of tea.

That’s £4 below the league average of £37.44.

The club’s cheapest matchday ticket costs £25, below the league average (£28), in stark contrast to club’s the most expensive matchday ticket, £70, the fifth most expensive in the league.

A day out watching Fulham is one of the most expensive in the Championship according to the survey.

Fans pay £33.90 for the cheapest available matchday ticket, a programme, a pie and a cup of tea at Craven Cottage - only Brighton (£34.70) costs more.

Put into contrast, the equivalent day watching Newcastle at St James’ Park would cost £23.30.

The cheapest matchday ticket offered by Fulham costs £25, the most costly of the league’s cheapest tickets.

The cheapest season ticket for the Cottagers comes in at £299, a total of £35 below the league’s average - that’s 25 per cent lower than the season ticket price in last year’s survey of £399.

Fans wanting to check out the programme at half time will fork out £3.50, the joint highest in the league, while those wanting a pie will also pay £3.50, 40p above the league average.

At £1.90 tea is 5p below the league average.

For Brentford fans a day out at Griffin Park leaves slightly more money in the pocket at £32.70 for the cheapest available matchday ticket, a programme, a pie and a cup of tea.

The cheapest matchday ticket offered by Brentford costs £25, the most costly of the league’s cheapest tickets.

The cheapest season ticket for the Bees comes in at £343, a total of £10 over the league’s average, and more expensive than three Premier League sides’ cheapest season tickets.

Fans wanting to check out the programme  will fork out £3, the league average, while those wanting a pie will pay £3.20, 10p above the league average.

However, at £1.50, tea is the cheapest in the league.

A day out at AFC Wimbledon is likely to cost fans about £20 according to the survey.

The cheapest match tickets at £16 are below the division's average of £18.21 while a cup of tea at £1.30 is one of the cheapest in League Two.

There were no prices for pies available 

In the Conference, a game at Barnet will cost about £21.55 - below the league's average of £22.18 - although again there were no prices available for pies.

The figures are all in stark contrast to the continent, who also feature on the BBC’s survey.

The cheapest season ticket at Real Madrid is £174.65, while the cheapest matchday ticket is £18.80.

In France matchday tickets can be bought for £11.75 at Paris St Germain and Monaco, in Germany Bayern Munich’s cheapest tickets are the same price while Borussia Dortmund charge just £1.09 more for their cheapest tickets.

The wide reaching BBC survey also revealed that Arsenal still have the most expensive matchday ticket in the Premier League - an eye-watering £97 – even though they have slashed the price of last season’s top priced ticket from £126.

Chelsea are next on the top priced tickets list at £87, although Stamford Bridge does, however, offer the cheapest pies in the top flight - just £2.50.

The average price of the cheapest tickets across English football has risen at almost twice the rate of the cost of living since 2011.

The BBC Sport Price of Football study shows that the average price of the cheapest match day ticket from the Premier League to League Two has increased 13%, compared to a 6.8% increase in the cost of living during that time.

In the Premier League, the increase is 15.8%, while it is 31.7% in League One and 19% in League Two. In the Championship, the average price has dropped 3.2%.

Compared to 12 months ago, the cheapest match day tickets in the top four divisions of English football is up 4.4% from 12 months, from £20.58 to £21.49, almost treble the current rate of inflation which is 1.5%.

The BBC Price of Football study is in its fourth year having begun in 2011, and is the largest of its kind in Britain, covering 176 clubs in 11 divisions across British football, including Women’s Super League One and Two.

Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday’s £10 match day ticket is the cheapest in the top four leagues in England - only matched by Southport in the Conference.

The average price of the cheapest match-day ticket in Scottish football’s top flight has increased by almost 8% since 2011 – from £18.92 to £20.42.

Arsenal have the most expensive season ticket in the Premier League at £2,013.

Their cheapest season ticket is £1,014, the most costly in the Premier League and that is more expensive than the top-priced season ticket at 17 Premier League clubs. The only exceptions are Tottenham (£1,895) and Chelsea (£1,250).

Manchester City have the cheapest season ticket in the Premier League at £299.

Charlton’s £150 season ticket is the cheapest in the top four divisions in England, with only Conference side Eastleigh (£105) cheaper.

Peterhead charge £90 for their cheapest season ticket – that’s cheaper than anywhere else in the top four divisions of Scottish football and the top five leagues in England.

The Scottish League One side also charge the least for a match-day ticket, at £6 while the most expensive season ticket is sold by Celtic, at £600.

In the Premier League, the two Manchester clubs - United and City - charge the most for an adult replica shirt - £55.

Hull have the cheapest shirt at £39.99.

Barnet charge £49.90 for an adult shirt – more expensive than the price of 11 Premier League clubs.

In Scotland, Celtic’s adult shirt is most expensive at £53 while the cheapest is £30 at Brechin and Alloa.

The price of a pie

Kidderminster Harriers have the most expensive pie among the clubs covered charging £4.50 for their award-winning pie.

Championship club Brighton & Hove Albion are the next most expensive at £4.10.

In the Premier League, Crystal Palace, Man City and Southampton have the most expensive pie at £4.

In Scotland, at £1.20, the cheapest pies are at Forfar and Queen’s Park.

Scottish Championship side Livingston sell the most expensive pie, charging £2.50.

Cups of tea

Liverpool, Manchester United and Southampton have the most expensive cups of tea at £2.50.

The cheapest can be bought at Conference club Braintree and WSL 2 club Sunderland Ladies. Both charge 80p.

Burnley and Manchester City have the cheapest tea in the Premier League at £1.80.

In Scotland, League Two side Elgin City charge just 60p for a cup of tea, the cheapest of the clubs the BBC contacted in the top four divisions of Scottish football.

The most expensive cup of tea in the top four divisions of Scottish football can be bought at Celtic, Dundee, Dundee United, Hibernian and Inverness at £2.20.
