For Adebayo Azeez it is not so much DNA as PMA (positive mental attitude) which is reviving his AFC Wimbledon fortunes.

Dons' 21-year-old striker went from zero to hero in the space of two minutes after coming off the bench on Saturday, fluffing a glorious chance to win the game before producing an inch perfect cross in the 89th minute for namesake Adebayo Akinfenwa to seal the points.

Azeez admits even last season the miss would have played on his mind to such an extent he would still have been naval gazing when the chance to lay on the winner arrived.

Not any more though as a greater mental steel means he is really pushing Dons' other goalscorers for a starting shirt.

"Something I have learnt since last season is once something happens don't dwell on it and be like down on yourself, go again because it only takes a split second for something else to happen and for that to be a game changer," he said.

"So I didn't dwell on it. I was disappointed, but I got over that quickly and luckily I was in the right place at the right time to get my cross in and the big man (Akinfenwa) headed it in for the winner.

The late double act with 'The Beast' stretched the Wombles' unbeaten league run to five ahead of next Saturday's visit to Luton.

Azeez claims there is a real sense amongst the squad at Kingsmeadow that a juggernaut is cranking into gear.

"There is a momentum growing," he added.

“We are feeling good, there is a great aura around the camp and on the pitch when we go behind you can see we are all still in there fighting right to the end. The team spirit we have is great and it is just a great place to be."
