QPR secured a morale-boosting victory over a Newcastle side still in danger of relegation.

Emmanuel Riviere gave the Magpies the lead in the first half after a simple long ball over the top from Tim Krul.

Matt Phillips turned Charlie Austin's cross home for the equaliser before Leroy Fer scored a sensational goal to give Rangers the victory.

It gives head coach Chris Ramsey a boost as the Rangers boss is set to be put in charge for next season.

"We've had a lot of good support from the fans who have been very loyal in what they've done," he said.

"Last week we didn't perform in a way that befits a club of this stature, and the travelling fans were embarrassed away from home at Man City.

"We gave away another sloppy goal, but the players came back in the second-half and really put it in for the fans and the owners on our last home game.

"It was really important for us to finish well here and show that next season we're hoping to redress the situation and make sure that the club is on an even keel and also trying its best to get back to this decision.
