Frank Lampard came back to haunt Chelsea as he struck the equaliser to deny them victory at Man City on Sunday.

The former Blues midfielder came off the bench to cancel out Andre Schurrle's effort in the 1-1 draw at the Ethiad Stadium.

Lampard, who is on loan at City from New York, refused to celebrate after denying his old club three points.

But Blues boss Jose Mourinho was angry with his team for failing to kill off the hosts after going in front just minutes after City were reduced to 10 men when Pablo Zableta was sent off for two bookable offences.

"When you don't kill matches you are in danger when you play against very good teams," Mourinho said.

“We had a tactical reaction (to the sending off of Pablo Zabaleta) to try and win the game.

“They had an emotional reaction to try and not lose the game."
