Atletico Madrid 0-0 Chelsea

Chelsea earned a goalless draw in Spain as Jose Mourinho's defensive tactics paid dividends in the Vicente Calderon - but it came at a cost.

The Blues will fancy their chances of progressing to the final in the second leg after shutting out Atletico in their own back yard.

However, Frank Lampard and John Obi Mikel will miss the return fixture at Stamford Bridge and John Terry and Petr Cech both picked up injuries.

Mark Schwarzer came on for the injured Cech in the first-half and looked assured between the sticks for the Blues.

Despite a lack of game-time this season, the Aussie keeper says he always feels ready to pull on the gloves.

He said: I’m getting used to this whole thing of sitting out and being ready to play. It’s always a tough thing to do but I didn’t really have a chance to think about it tonight.

“I just went out there and did my job.”
