Phil Babb says it was important for Hayes & Yeading to get a result at Staines Town on Tuesday night as they now face an extended period of rest.

United were 3-2 winners at Wheatsheaf Lane in midweek but will not play again until October 18’s Conference South clash with Boreham Wood.

It was a fantastic turnaround by H&Y as they recovered from going two goals down to grab the points through Chimdi  Akubuine, Ashleigh Artwell and a Pat Cox penalty.

“Important game for us with eleven days break with next run of games being important to get something,” Babb said. “We’ll look analyse the squad see how we’re doing”

Assistant manager Tristan Lewis added: “We thought it was a pivotal game, we said before the game three points takes you right up there, and if you don’t get them as there’s such a fine line between the bottom if you lose you’re right back down there.

“We needed some momentum, especially after conceding two sloppy goals, one after 28 seconds. Nice bit of character shown, we thought we’d win the game as poor as we were in the second half, if we got playing the ball on the floor we could win the game and that’s what happened.

“We’ve had a few injuries, Calum Kitscha has played with an injury tonight massive credit to him, Wish and Macca [Gary MacDonald] have both been carrying injuries. It’s an important little break as everybody can get fit, and everyone will feel good about themselves going into it."
