Fulham have been dealt a blow by the news that Middlesbrough’s Patrick Bamford is set to win his race to be fit for Saturday’s game at Craven Cottage.

The on-loan Chelsea striker was this weekend named Championship Player of the Year and has banged in 19 goals for Boro this season.

However, that goalscoring prowess has brought him some unwanted attention from opposition defenders and he took a kick to the ankle last week at Norwich.

He had a scan on the injury yesterday and didn’t train with the rest of the Middlesbrough squad this morning, instead using heat and hydrotherapy to try and improve his fitness.

Belgian forward Jelle Vossen is also struggling after a tough Friday night’s work against the Canaries but is struggling to join Bamford in making the squad for the weekend trip to Fulham.
