Karleigh Osborne insists the stick from the Port Vale crowd made him play even better after starring in Brentford FC's 3-0 win on Saturday.

The young defender was a victim of the Vale boo-boys for his part in Ross Davidson's first-half dismissal.

But Osborne silenced the home crowd when he swept the visitors in front before the break, and Marcus Bean and Charlie MacDonald sealed the points after the interval.

He said: "To be fair, the crowd getting on my back did help me. I proved everyone wrong who was booing me and giving it some. I just went for the ball and he clattered me.

"It was good to get a goal. Nathan (Elder) just knocked it back for me and that was it."
