TURNING down no fewer than four bids for him from Charlton Athletic is all the reassurance Karleigh Osborne needs that he is a big part of Brentford’s future.

Bees boss Uwe Rosler this week opened new contract talks with two of his players - with Simon Moore and Leon Legge set to be offered new terms.

All of which is surprising, considering two of the club’s most saleable assets - Osborne and Richard Lee - are both out on contract next summer, and would appear more immediate concerns.

However, after Charlton’s interest was rebuffed time after time over the summer, the centre-back will not be beating Rosler’s door down.

He said: "I’m in the last year of my contract, and I’ve not been offered a new one yet, but it’s still early days to be honest.

“I’m just concentrating on playing at the moment, and making sure I am performing to the best of my ability for Brentford.

“I know Charlton put in a few bids for me over the summer - I think it was four in all, which were turned down - which assured me the club really want me.

“It was flattering to attract the attention of a club like Charlton, but it was also a real honour to know how much Brentford really wanted to keep me.

“The new manager has also said he wants to keep me here, so that’s enough for me at the moment, and I’ve been impressed with what he has brought to the club.

“I want to get to the next level, and while I’ve got no doubt Charlton are heading there, it’s exciting times at Brentford too, and I believe we can make the step up as well."
