Queens Park Rangers' disappointing Championship campaign ended with a whimper as they were comfortably beaten by Norwich City.

Wes Hoolahan's deflected first half effort gave the Canaries a deserved lead, after Josh Murphy had hit the bar with an effort from distance and Joel Lynch cleared Nelson Oliviera's effort off the line.

Pawel Wszolek saw an clipped left-footed shot was tipped onto the bar as the opening half drew to a close and Norwich increased their lead after the break.

Alex Pritchard's first effort was blocked, but he made no mistake with the second firing past Alex Smithies. And it was a similar story for the third, as Josh Murphy slipped the ball past Smithies at the second time.

The fourth came in added-on time, as Cameron Jerome passed the ball across to Wes Hoolahan when Smithies closed him down, and the veteran passed it into an empty net

Here's how we rated the players

Alex Smithies - 7

Strong hand early on to deny Josh Murphy's effort and produced another good save from Oliveira, although he was offside. Another fine save as Murphy looked to make it three and had little chance with any of the goals.

James Perch - 5

Most of Norwich's best attacks in the first half came from the right side. Josh Murphy had some joy early on, and Pritchard peeled off at times too. Better after the break though.

Nedum Onuoha - 5.5

Unlucky with the deflection, but should have closed Hoolahan down quicker. Dealt with crosses well, but beaten on the floor. Murphy out-muscled him for the third, which is not good to see.

Joal Lynch – 5.5

Phenomenal clearance off the line in the opening stages and some important headers. Stood off Hoolahan for his opener though. Another whose performance dropped as the game wore on.

Jack Robinson - 6

The end of a frustrating season for the full-back, but his thundering tackle at the start of the second half showed that the injuries are not playing on his mind. Subbed by the time Norwich added the third and fourth goals.

Michael Doughty - 5.5

A rare start for Doughty in front of the back four, but Hoolahan and Pritchard kept finding space in and around him. One free-kick tested John Ruddy and made a couple of important blocks.

Massimo Luongo - 5

Couldn't exert his influence going forward. One shot blocked in the first half was his only contribution of note.

Ryan Manning - 5

Part of a midfield that struggled to get a hold of the game. Not the best way to end his breakthrough season.

Pawel Wszolek - 6

Way too long to release the ball as Rangers broke early on, but was lively going forward. Forced Ruddy into a good save at the end of the opening period. Sometimes his decision-making was not great, however, which stopped a couple of promising attacks

Conor Washington - 6.5

Bright up front; produced one lovely touch and turn but his shot was straight at Ruddy. Plenty of running and endeavour. Thankless task on his own in the second half and perhaps unlucky to be taken off.

Matt Smith – 5

Anonymous performance to finish off the season. Struggled to get involved, won a couple of headers including an important one in his own box, but no opportunities.

Subs:

Luke Freeman – 6.5

Bright start after being introduced at the break and won and took a free-kick that drifted just wide. Looked the most likely and most willing to create something for Rangers.

Josh Bowler - 7

Won a corner with the first touch on debut and produced a typical youthful display. No fear and willing to try and take players on. A promising showing.

Reece Grego-Cox - N/A

Introduced with ten minutes remaining and had one shot trickle past the post.
