North Greenford United's committee will meet next week to discuss appointing a new boss after manager Paul Palmer was sacked this week.

The Southern Division One Central club made the decision to relieve Palmer of his duties following Saturday's 4-1 home defeat to Chalfont St Peter.

Assistant manager Don Bennett has taken over as caretaker boss and was in charge as United grabbed a last-minute equaliser to draw 1-1 with Uxbridge on Tuesday night.

Chairman John Bivens and the committee will meet next Thursday evening to decide the way forward.

A statement from the club said: "After careful consideration of the managerial position, the North Greenford committee decided it was in the best interests of the club to part company with manager Paul Palmer.

"Assistant manager Don Bennett was asked to take over in a caretaking capacity and accepted the position.

"The committee would like to express their sincere thanks to Paul for his hard work and contribution to the club after taking over from Neil Shipperley. We wish him well in the future."
