Fulham boss Felix Magath insists he's a nice guy but won't change his controversial training methods.

The German boss was unveiled on Thursday after replacing Rene Meulensteen at the helm last week, tasked with keeping the rock-bottom club in the Premier League.

Magath's brutal regime has been criticised by the likes of Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness, while Jan Aage Fjortoft, who played under the 60-year-old at Eintracht Frankfurt, recalled a player collapsing during one of his training camps.

However, the new Craven Cottage chief has defended his methods.

He said: “Why should I change my training? At the moment I’m the most successful coach of Germany.

“Why should I change? I don’t know. Can you explain? Until now everybody has lived through my training.

“Ask Raul about my work. Ask the good players and you will get the right answers. No-one died. I’m a nice guy.”
