Brentford FC have finally signed Peterborough defender Adam Newton - two weeks after the Chronicle revealed the deal had been reignited.

Bees boss Andy scott tried to sign the former West Ham right-back earlier this summer, but the deal fell through despite Newton wanting to come, due to a financial dispute between Newton and Posh about the remainder of his contract.

However, a fortnight ago, the Chronicle discovered that the deal was not dead in the water and Scott was still working to bring Newton to Griffin Park.

And today, he became the third signing Scott has made in a week since returning from a holiday in the US, following the loan captures of Leigh Mills and Ben Hamer.
