Brentford midfielder Alan Judge will not return to light training until January 2017 at the earliest, it has been revealed.

The Bees playmaker, who was heavily linked with a move to Newcastle in August, broke his leg in April after a horrific Luke Hyam tackle at Ipswich.

His recovery from the compound fracture has been as expected and is making his way back to full fitness.

Brentford head of medical Neil Greig said in a statement released to GetWestLondon: “Alan Judge has made positive progressions in the past four weeks.

“A meeting with the consultant this week went well and bone healing continues to improve.

“There is a further review planned in eight weeks (week beginning January 9 2017) at which point we hope to be able to gain the all clear to return to light training. No date for a team return has been set.”

Lewis Macleod

Lewis Macleod suffered a knee injury that has ruled him out until at least the start of next season and he has undergone surgery.

Greig added: “Lewis Macleod underwent surgery yesterday (Wednesday) on the knee injury he sustained at QPR.”

Summer signing Rico Henry has taken a further step on returning to first team action after shoulder surgery.

Greig explained: “Rico Henry has been able to begin individual outdoor conditioning in the past week as he recovers from shoulder surgery.”

Leicester loanee Callum Elder has been out of action since Brighton after Glenn Murray landed on his knee but has now suffered a setback.

Greig revealed: “Callum Elder has recovered well from a medium term knee injury. He has however developed a minor thigh muscle injury which has held back his return to full training.”

Sam Saunders

Sam Saunders was a late withdrawal at QPR last month with a calf injury and will miss the trip to Blackburn on Saturday.

Greig said: “Sam Saunders developed a calf injury in the build up to the match against Queens Park Rangers. He has improved well and should return to team training next week.”

Jack Bonham is able to face Rovers after recovering from concussion and whiplash injuries which he sustained in a car crash.

Greig confirmed: “Jack Bonham has recovered from concussion and whiplash injuries sustained in a car accident following the QPR game. He is back in training.”
