New Hanford and London Tigers roar to league and cup wins

Double delight for west London outfits

Rampant: New Hanford FC

New Hanford FC secured the Middlesex County Division One West title in style on Saturday, beating bottom of the league AFC LT 5-0.

A hat-trick from league top goalscorer Ross Ahir along with goals from Elliott Simmonds and Frank Moloney was enough to kick the celebrations off for the Hanwell/Greenford based outfit.

Management team Gary Andrews and Tommy Munday were overjoyed at the final whistle, an ecstatic Andrews said “it’s great to be crowned champions in the clubs 40th season.

“The boys have been outstanding all year and thoroughly deserve the title”.

For New Hanford, this was their third league title in as many seasons having previously won the London Commercial league the past two campaigns.

The club will now be playing their football in the Middlesex County Premier League, Step 7 on the FA National League pyramid System.

Daggers drawn: London Tigers

London Tigers also had that winning feeling when they were crowned UK Bangladesh Champions.

The Perivale-based side with a head office in Maida Vale, beat Luton 3-1 in the final after two days of slog at Dagenham & Redbridge FC.

The two-day fest featured some of the great Asian amateurs playing for 15 teams. But Tigers won five of their qualifying matches scoring 13 while conceding a mere three.

In the showdown, teenager Jahed Miah got on the winning trail before a lob by Ruhul Al Amin put Tigers in the driving seat. A clincher Akram Khan was the best of the day as he blasted a volley into the roof of the net before Luton grabbed a consolation.

Tigers CEO Mesba Ahmed reckoned the boys in orange have got the taste for Football League grounds.

He said: “It was a great experience for our boys after playing inside MK Dons stadium last year.”
