Steve Holland is set to leave Chelsea at the season's end and to a future as number two with Gareth Southgate and England.

Chelsea have tended to keep club-loyal stalwarts on the coaching staff, alongside the manager of the day's own coaching team.

Think Steve Clarke, Roberto Di Matteo, Eddie Newton.

Therefore, here's a look at a few of the names who are in contention for training ground work with Antonio Conte, come the summer.

Gianfranco Zola is another name in the frame to take over at the KC Stadium.
Zola power

Gianfranco Zola

Well, his Italian isn't bad, for starters.

There has long been a hope that the Blues' legend might make a return to his old stomping ground, but is the time right, and is this the job for him?

Management hasn't come easy for the famously personable playmaker.

After a bright start at West Ham, he seemed to lose the support of the club's owners who sold most of their best players.

Unremarkable spells with Italy U16s, a near thing at Watford, Cagliari and Al-Arabi in Qatar followed.

At 50, he is three years Conte's senior, and is likely to be more interested in a headline job, rather than a supporting role.

But would he make an exception for Chelsea?

Top Drog: Didier Drogba

Didier Drogba

Another man who would be welcomed back with open arms, any time he chose to return.

Drogba has no formal coaching qualifications, but is known for the lift he gives any dressing room.

His statesmanlike presence, and playing experience, would make him an ideal role model for players.

But would the day-to-day grind of training the team be something that interested him?

When most recently asked, he highlighted the roles of sporting director, or youth ambassador might be more his sort of thing.

Were he to return, it would be a popular move.

Too early? Frank Lampard

Frank Lampard

The club's record goalscorer is thinking out his next move having recently announced his departure from New York City.

Back in the day, Lampard was never thought of as a potential coach: with all the talk about a post-football career in media, business, or even politics.

But, in recent times, hints have dropped he is considering it as a career option.

Lamps will surely have discussed Conte at length with Andrea Pirlo, who is a mutual friend out in the States.

Though with talk of a possible additional season on-pitch in either the MLS or China, this vacancy may come a little early for the Blues record scorer.

Achtung! Michael Ballack (L) is on the Chelsea trail

Michael Ballack

The German legend was thought an ideal candidate for management when he retired – but so far, nothing.

He has been very active in the media, particularly for ESPN where he provided punditry at Euro 2012 and 2016, as well as the 2014 World Cup.

The reason for his inclusion on the Holland replacement list is down to a phenomenal amount of coseying-up with Chelsea, and its fans.

His Twitter account reads like a Blues fan page at present – could he be dropping hints?

Gizza job: Jose Mourinho speaks to John Terry

John Terry

Terry's Chelsea playing days look all but over having been marginalised to the bench since Conte's switch to 3-4-3.

He has long been taking his coaching badges, and always made it known he sees his future in management – and, specifically, managing Chelsea.

When his present one-year deal ends next summer there are likely to be two choices: step-up, or ship out.

Will he follow the money across the Atlantic, or even to Shanghai – where he has been courted before?

Or will he think long-term, and seek to extend his career with Chelsea: where he remains the most successful captain, and one of the game's most enduring one-club men?
