Neal Ardley admitted AFC Wimbledon were gutted not to pick up their first League Two win over the weekend but has urged the group to stick together.

The League One table makes grim reading for Dons fans after five games as the newly-promoted side sit bottom of the pile.

They were agonisingly close to claiming their first victory on Saturday at Rochdale only to have two points snatched away at the death by a soft goal.

However, things are looking more positive for Wimbledon than they did after three straight defeats to kick the campaign off.

Draws on the road at Northampton and now Rochdale have given Ardley hope of climbing up the table after a slow start.

“We’ve had two tough away games and we haven’t been beaten in them both but we’re obviously really gutted to concede in injury time,” he told Dons Player.

“The qualities we’ve got are that we’re really hard working and we’re in it for each other. We’ve got a lot of quality with the ball and we can hurt teams.

Great form: Wimbledon's Andy Barcham has started the season well

“I’m not going to apologise for working them hard in training on their game without the ball but it has taken the gloss off our game with the ball a bit.

“There’s loads to work on but we’re positive about what we can do. I’ve said to the boys in there that we won’t turn on each other.

“We had team spirit and an unbelievable work ethic last season and we want that to continue.”

Last season’s top scorer Lyle Taylor had to be withdrawn after 72 minutes at the Dale but Ardley hopes it was nothing more than cramp.
