AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley demands greater consistency from his side as they prepare for their Barnet clash on Saturday.

The Dons have only lost one game from their previous seven League Two encounters, but they have only won twice.

And the manager knows that they will need to start converting those draws into wins if they are to finish in the top seven.

“We are not a million miles away from doing good things,” said Ardley .

“The spirit is great, the fitness levels of the players are great and I think a lot of the performances have been very good.

“If you are going to get where we want to go and where we dream of being, it is going to be a consistent level of performance every week and not just because it’s Barnet at home.”

Ardley faces a series of selection issues with Adebayo Akinfenwa currently facing a late injury test after being substituted off with a hamstring strain against Northampton.

Tom Elliot is also unavailable with a knee injury, although Karleigh Osbourne is back after serving his suspension from a red card against Luton .

And the Wimbledon boss is wary about Saturday’s visitors, acknowledging that Martin Allen’s charges can provide a stern challenge.

He said: “I watched Barnet in midweek against Plymouth and it was an exceptional performance.

“I have a lot of respect for Martin Allen because he has done good jobs at every club he has been at. He has continued to do it at Barnet and they are going to be strong.

“There are no easy games in this league and I expect Saturday to be anything but that.”
