Here are AFC Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley's key thoughts following today's 2-1 win over Exeter.

It was a first home victory of the campaign for the Dons.

Ardley was delighted to grab the points and pleased with his impact substitutions...

Importance of the win

Scored the winner: Ade Azeez

Ardley: “It was the result that mattered and that is what I said in my programme notes today.

"For 20 minutes at the start I thought we were really on it looked a real threat and pressed them high up the pitch so they could not get out.

"Then our levels dropped off a bit and we were our own worst enemies at that point.

"I dug a few out at half time because I wanted the energy levels better from one or two people. I gave them a chance to raise them. It didn't really happen in the first 20 minutes of the second half and credit to the boys that came on they bought that energy the team needed."

Super-subs who combined for the winner

Looking on: Neal Ardley

Ardley: “Some people might call it brave [double change], but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Today it worked really well.

"Ade (Azeez) played brilliantly mid-week for the U21s and scored. He is full of confidence and training really, really well.

"The boys are giving him loads of encouragement and his mentality has been great.

"Lyle (Taylor) was disappointed not to start and I wanted him to take that anger out in training yesterday when I named the team. He played against us in the training game and ran us ragged so he really was angry and he showed that when he came on.

"We spoke on the bench and said both he and Ade had things to prove and we needed energy and pace to unsettle them so we thought let's do it.

Lack of end product with attacking set pieces

Set-piece specialist: George Francomb

Ardley: “Set pieces are about delivery and desire. We work at the the timings and the areas, but we did not have that in the first half.

“George was a little bit below his normal quality and even when we did get on the end of things they defended them well. If they defend them well it is hard.

“We will keep working on them and one day it will win us a game. It didn't today but we still got the win."
