Neal Ardley vowed this week to argue the toss with anyone who doubts his team can make the grade in League One.

But he admitted talk is cheap and it’s time for his team to roll their sleeves up and get points on the board.

Ardley’s new boys have drawn a blank in their first two games at the highest level in the club’s short history but ahead of tomorrow’s game with Scunthorpe at Kingsmeadow the Dons’ boss believes they will adjust and discover the confidence which carried them to promotion last term.

“Anyone who tells me they don’t think we have got enough to win games at this level I would disagree with them, but that is words and we’ve got to produce the actions to back that up,” he said

“Momentum is everything and we have just had a little bit of a kick up the backside early on.

“We have got to somehow find our momentum and our confidence and get those games and we will. We have got good firepower and different options, so there are lots of good things, we just haven’t won a game.”

League One quality: AFC Wimbledon's Darius Charles celebrates

The Iron, who just missed out on the promotion playoffs last term will provide another stern test in what has been a tough start set for them by the fixture computer.

Nor does Ardley expect it to get any easier, but says with the backing of their loyal fans they will continue to progress – they just need to break their points duck.

“We are going to stick together and I would always urge the fans to stick with us,” he added.

“It is not going to be an easy ride in this league, but if we do stick together we’ll be fine.

“We just need to get off zero and we all know that, but it has two games and we’ve lost them. There has not been bundles in it and we have got to learn from them.”
