Jose Mourinho played down the on-pitch argument with Diego Costa after the pair were seen to be exchanging views in the 4-0 win at Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The Spaniard picked up an injury in the rout but it was not all plain sailing as he was kicked by former Blue Tal Ben Haim, who was sent off.

The Special One was unhappy with Costa's performance during the game and let the firey striker know what he thought of his performance with the west Londoners winning 1-0 at the time through Gary Cahill's goal.

And he snapped back at his manager in some disappointing scenes for Blues fans, but the pair reconciled at half-time. Chelsea went on to win 4-0 with Willian, Oscar and Kurt Zouma all finding the target late in the game.

Mourinho said: "I want him to do a certain movement that he didn't. I was disappointed. I react. He react too"

"At half-time in the dressing room (we shared) a few kisses and a few cuddles."

John Terry went off with an injury and Mourinho pointed fingers at the Maccabi Tel Aviv pitch, which also led to Chelsea midfielder Ramires pulling out before the game.

The Blues boss added: "Ramires slid and had a muscular injury and John has an ankle problem.

"It is such a beautiful stadium, such fantastic public, they deserve a better surface. The surface was bad and dangerous."

"Only the bad pitch stopped us from playing even better when we reached the last third of the pitch"
