Injured Didier Drogba could yet be ready for Chelsea's Monday night season opener at Burnley, says boss Jose Mourinho.

The returning hero played no part in Chelsea's 2-0 friendly win over Real Sociedad on Tuesday night. But he did trot out pre-match to receive the fans' adulation – showing no apparent signs of the ankle injury picked-up last week.

Mourinho said of the Ivorian: "I don't want to say he is ready for Monday, but the quality of our medical department and his strong mentality means that I'm not saying it is impossible for him to recover from his ankle injury in time."
