Jose Mourinho has refused to redefine his team as title favourites after their stunning victory at Man City.

In fact, the Chelsea boss re-iterated his view that the Blues would still be a better bet next season – in typically Mourinhoesque style.

“The title race has two big horses and a little horse, which needs milk and work to learn to jump," he said. "It can win the race next season.

“I think we are not favourites. Liverpool is a great team who play one match a week when the Champions League starts and we are all involved in the Champions League.

“So I think it's not for us. For us the responsibility and ambition in every game we play – and I thought that before this game – is to win the next game, but no more that that.”

Hailing his players, Mourinho added: “We did something to try to help them, but the players are everything – and they were everything and they were fantastic.

“They very much deserved a victory against an unbelievable team, and when you win against a fantastic team, the feeling obviously is better.”
