Bobby Zamora is a 'monster' to play against who has provided a timely boost to QPR's promotion hopes, says team-mate Nedum Onuoha.

The former Fulham frontman came off the bench to help seal victory over Yeovil on Saturday - his first goal of the campaign.

And with top scorer Charlie Austin still sidelined and Kevin Doyle also struggling though injury, Zamora could have a big part to play in the run in.

On target: Bobby Zamora heads QPR's second goal

“Bobby’s not really been anywhere. He’s just not been selected for whatever reason," said Onuoha. "But he’s motivated and he wants to do the same as everyone else - be promoted.

“He’s been away for a while, but this is the perfect time for him and he’s something different. He’s a full England international so it can only be good for us.

“He was getting some grief earlier in the season. But whenever I’ve been against him in my career he’s been an absolute monster. I’m glad he’s back in now and managed to put a few of the doubters quiet.

“When he first came here he was a big reason why we stayed up that season. To have him back and the way he played was fantastic.

“He was fired up and lively, but that’s what happens when you give him the opportunity. He is healthy now.

"Having played with him for over two years now that’s what I expect from him and that’s what he expects from himself. If he dips below that he’s the first person to admit that.
