It's been announced that QPR's fixture away to Millwall in December has been pushed back 24 hours, with the fixture now taking place on Friday 29th December (7.45pm).

This in turn now means that both fixtures against the Bermondsey-boys will now be evening kick-offs.

It doesn't sound like a thought-through plan to me.

Fixtures between QPR and Millwall have always been heated affairs due to the proximity of the clubs, but this season the fixture takes on added significance.

As well as the fact both teams could be battling in the bottom half, the added catylist of Ian Holloway returning to his former club means that the atmosphere at the matches could be increasingly hostile.

The thinking behind the change will no doubt be based on the ease of transport for fans to each game on an evening, as opposed to a lengthy trip for a northern-based team to London.

But it does appear than common sense has been swiftly disposed of in this instance.

One can only hope that preparations are made by the authorities to ensure that a potentially troublesome evening is carried out in a proper way, and that the occasion is remembered for the main course and not the dessert.
