Former Middlesbrough boss has predicted a big season for one QPR star; and it’s not who you would think.

Speaking to the Sun, the Spaniard predicted the Hoops would finish safely in mid-table, with Abdenasser El Khayati set to be an unlikely star.

He said: “Ian Holloway is a really good coach with a lot of experience.

“I know they had a difficult season last year but I think they will be better this year and finish comfortably in mid-table.

“I liked Abdenasser El Khayati when we (Middlesbrough) played against Burton a few years ago.

“He went away on loan from QPR last season but I think he could be a big player this year.

Karanka also said that Nedum Onuoha would be a key player this season, as the Hoops look to improve on last year’s display.
