QPR may be in a state of flux over a new manager - but Leroy Fer is delighted with a second chance been handed him by the temporary boss.

On his way to Sunderland in August, only to fail a medical, Fer found the way back barred by injury and then was largely restricted to a role as impact sub under sacked Chris Ramsey.

However, the Dutch international got a rare starting berth in Rs last game against Preston under Neil Warnock, and for the first time this season played all 90 minutes.

Backing: Neil Warnock

He said: “All you can ask as a player when someone new comes in, whether it’s on a temporary basis or full-time, is that you are in their plans, so it was good to start that first game under Neil against Preston."

“He has made it clear that everyone is at zero again, so anyone can get picked, so it was up to me to convince him and, thankfully, I did that by being named in his first team.

"Personally, I've not played as many games as I'd have liked so far owing to injury, but I'm pleased to be back fit now.

"But as a team, we've not played to our full potential in many of the games and that's been frustrating. We started the season all right, but the last few weeks haven't been good enough.

"I think we have a very strong team – we kept some good players over the summer – so it's up to us to string a series of victories together now, hopefully starting at Middlesbrough," he told the club's website.
