Lego was an obsession most of us had as kids, whether it was creating random things out of spare bricks or building the latest kit from Star Wars.

Nowadays, most of us have swapped that obsession to football, but one man has combined both of those loves and has set about creating the 92 league stadiums, completely out of Lego.

Meet Jules Richards, a Cardiff City fan who has created numerous stadiums entirely out of Lego - including Fulham's Craven Cottage.

The detail is remarkable, from the name in the stand right down to the Cottage sitting on the corner of the Johnny Haynes Stand.

We caught up with Jules to ask him how he became a Lego stadium builder and why he decided to build Craven Cottage out of Lego.

"I started about 18 months ago, I dug out the Lego I had from when I was younger and thought I'd build something," he said, "so I built the Cardiff City stadium and it wasn't brilliant, and I posted it on Twitter and Facebook and Cardiff retweeted it and it was in their programme and it took off from there.

"I dabbled with a few other grounds but a guy from Nottingham got in touch and asked for a Sheffield Wednesday one, he asked if I sold them and I said no because I didn't at the time and it took off from there.

"That was 18 months ago now and I've been selling them ever since, one or two month, but I did build a load of grounds for the fun of it, I'd dismantle it and and since I've been doing ones that people have ordered."

You'd think building something of that magnitude with that level of detail would take at least a week, but Jules has a knack for producing them extremely quickly.

He adds: "On average, depending on the size of the ground of course, some are bigger than others, but between six and 12 hours - I did Huddersfield recently and finished that yesterday and that was a bit fiddly so that took ten hours in total.

"It's just squeezing them in on evenings and days off, but the average is eight-nine hours.

"I Google a lot of aerial shots and get on the iPad, some street views I've looked at around the grounds that you can get access to and that's quite handy.

"I built a Burnley one not that long ago from a guy up north and he sent went down to the ground in his car and sent me pictures of every ten metres of the outside of the ground.

"With Craven Cottage I did a little one that you can put on your desktop in your office and did one in January and loads of people liked it on Twitter.

"It got loads of Tweets and loads of likes and someone said to me 'I want a big Craven Cottage' and I did it a couple months ago and now I have another who wants one in July and it just went from there.

"I looked at a lot of aerial shots of Craven Cottage and have been there a coupler of times myself so I had a good idea of what it looked like.

"That took about ten hours in total to do, it has got the words Fulham in the seats and the Cottage and all that."

Jules now sells his Lego stadiums, so if you fancy getting yourself a Craven Cottage for your house or even your desk, he can be reached on Twitter at @CCFC_jules or by e-mail, at jprichard1927@gmail.com.
