Alan McCormack has accused Swindon's Alex Pritchard of cheating to win a penalty during Brentford's defeat at the County Ground yesterday.

The on-loan Spurs man went over under McCormack's challenge just 12 minutes in, but Michael Smith's spot kick was brilliantly saved by David Button.

However, McCormack, who ran a gauntlet of abuse from fans of his former club, reckons justice was done as Pritchard had taken a dive.

He said: “It was very soft. I put my foot down and got the ball, and he decided to go over my leg. He kicked me more than the other way round. It was a great save by Dave, but I am annoyed somebody cheated to win the penalty.

"We should also have had a penalty in the first half, and possibly one in the second as well."

Button later turned from hero to zero by gifting Swindon their winner by playing the ball out to an under pressure Jonathan Douglas, who lost the ball in a dangerous area, allowing Louis Thompson to slot home in first half injury time.

McCormack added: “It was just a little bit of naivety on their part really. Dougie usually deals with them, but he was given a bit of a hospital ball.

“We knew what we had to do before the game, but it wasn't to be. We dominated the game and created chances, but just didn't finish them off.”
