JUAN Mata says that wins over Tottenham and Benfica can yet turn Chelsea's nightmare campaign into one to remember.

The creative dynamo, author of the goal which gave Blues three points at Old Trafford on Sunday, says coming third in the Premier League and winning the Europa League would see the epic 2012-13 campaign remembered for the right reasons.

Asked if a win over Spurs on Wednesday night would seal Champions League qualification, the Spaniard said: “Yes, I think so.

“I mean Tottenham is a team which is winning and winning, making pressure on us and Arsenal. So we are three teams fighting for two positions, and now we are third again.

“We play at home and I think if we win on Wednesday we will be almost for sure in the Champions League.”

And Mata, who has scored 18 goals for the Blues this campaign, said the side could still turn this tumultuous season into one to remember.

“If we are able to achieve the Europa League, and if we finish third in the Premier League, I think it will be a great season for us, winning a trophy and playing in the Champions League next season,” he said.

“Last season was tough, but at the end it was one of the greatest for the history of the club. We won two trophies.

“Unluckily we are not in the FA Cup final – we lost in the semi final. But we are in another final in the Europa League.

“So I think if we can win this trophy and we can be third, which is better than last season in the Premier League, we have a great season.”
