Brentford FC's Marvin Williams felt he proved a point against Port Vale on Saturday - in front of Robbie Williams.

The Brentford winger has been a frustrated spectator in recent weeks as Adam Newton and John Halls have dominated the Bees' right-hand side.

But Williams was thrown back in for Brentford's 2-0 win over Port Vale on Saturday and did not disappoint.

He said: "It is frustrating when the lads are coming off the pitch with a victory and you're not part of it -so I was a man with a point to prove today.

"But the gaffer gave me my chance and I'd like to think I've given him something to think about for next week."

Charlie MacDonald missed an early penalty for Brentford at Griffin Park, where Vale and pop superstar Robbie Williams was among the spectators.

But Karleigh Osborne gave the Bees the lead with a header on the stroke of half-time before MacDonald made amends with the second three minutes from time.
