Former Brentford manager Mark Warburton is keen to just focus on the football ahead of his Griffin Park return with Nottingham Forest.

The 54-year-old spent 18 months in charge at Griffin Park, guiding the Bees to promotion from League One and then the Championship play-offs.

The decision by Matthew Benham to part company divided the fanbase with some supporters staunchly backing Warburton, while others threw their weight behind the owner.

Debate has raged on social media about how to greet the former boss at Griffin Park but, for the Forest manager, the focus is purely on the football.

Saying goodbye: Brentford manager Mark Warburton

He told GetWestLondon: “Brentford, without the owner's backing and money, would not be where it is now. It's fantastic to see Brentford in a healthy position.

“I'm very much looking forward to going back to Griffin Park for our first away game in front of what we know is a tremendous ground. It's always been outstanding.

“We're looking forward to brining the atmosphere against a talented Brentford side and hopefully it'll be a good game of football.”
