Brentford's Rasmus Ankersen is hoping FC Midtjylland can defy the odds again and dump Premier League big guns Manchester United out of Europe altogether.

The Danish champions are owned by Brentford supremo Matthew Benham , while Ankersen doubles up as both Midtjylland chairman and Bees' director of football .

Midtjylland were paired with United in today's Europa League round of 32 draw after Louis van Gaal's side were sent spinning out of the Champions League.

They have already beaten Southampton this campaign and van Gaal's troops have been warned not to underestimate the Superliga side.

Ankersen said: “We beat an English team already, so it’s another big challenge for us. We’re ready to take them on.

“If we can beat Southampton we have a chance, that’s what the players will feel. They deserved to win against Southampton and it gives them the belief they can do it again. It’s going to be a great experience for us.

"We can’t win by outspending anyone. We are a small club with a small budget. There’s not a huge chance but there’s a chance. We will take up the challenge."
