London has produced more full England internationals than any other region in the country.

As many as 179 players to have pulled on the England jersey were born in the capital.

Sheffield is next on the list and has had 38 of its citizens represent England, while Birmingham has had 37, the same as Liverpool.

Manchester completes the top five cities with 33 England internationals being born within its borders.
After London the West Midlands is the modern county to have produced the most England internationals - 92 to Greater London's 179.

Greater Manchester has produced 90, Lancashire 78 and South Yorkshire 74.

The North West region is England's best breeding ground for footballers though.

As many as 271 of the country's internationals were born in the region compared to the 179 from Greater London and 160 from the West Midlands.

The North East has produced 144 England players, Yorkshire and Humber 123, the East Midlands 110, the South East 86, the East 60 and the South West juist 37.

These figures are for place of birth and don't represent where the players may have grown up. They are also only for players to have played for England prior to Saturday's match against San Marino.
