His QPR mate reckoned Adel Taarabt needed to ditch bad influences in London in order to rescue his career.

In the same breath the mercurial talent was reported as claiming he wasted three years of his life at Loftus Road, Armand Traore reckoned Taarabt was wasting his time with certain acquaintances in the capital.

The French midfielder, who has found a new lease of life on the left of Rangers midfield, thinks a loan with AC Milan is just what Taarabt needed.

Traore explained: “I think he’s done great (to go to Milan) and I think his problem was he was at QPR too long.

“He needed a new challenge to really focus at football. Getting out of London was good. He was with a lot of people here that didn’t help him focus on football.

“If he gets his head on his shoulders he can do really well for Milan.”

Rangers boss Harry Redknapp insisted he would have taken the wayward talent back in January from his first loan at Fulham, but drew the line at returning the Moroccan international to the QPR fold at the end of the season.

The manager added: “Adel in January – yes. But there’s a long time to the summer and we’ll have to see about things then.”
