There was nothing to separate Chelsea and Liverpool in the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final and it seems the Blues had Thibaut Courtois to thank for that at Anfield.

The Blues took the lead from the penalty spot as Eden Hazard found the bottom corner of the net with a cool finish.

Brendan Rodgers’ Reds were much improved in the second half though and Raheem Sterling broke away to score a superb leveller.

There was nothing Courtois could do to keep that one out but he made a string on fine saves to keep the Blues in the tie at times.

Courtois' acrobatic ability was of vital importance as Chelsea's goalmouth was peppered with shots from Liverpool.
