QPR director of football Les Ferdinand gave an honest assessment of life after the Premier League, admitting that the club "overstepped the mark".

In footage shown on Sky Sports News earlier today, Ferdinand said: "If you get relegated and you're left with older players who can't get you back into the Premier League then you're in trouble because you're going by Financial Fair Play.

“We overstepped the mark and we're waiting for what the actions on that will be, and it's very difficult to get yourselves back on a level playing field because everyone has this idea that QPR pays this amount of money, so all the agents you're speaking to you're saying 'well that was a couple of years ago' and we're trying to get ourselves on a level pegging.

“You find yourself not being competitive because you still have those few years where you're still trying to get rid of those players, and they're not going anywhere because they're not going to get those finances anywhere else, so they sit at your clubs until the end of their contract.”
