Leicester loanee Callum Elder has no qualms about filling the shoes left by Jake Bidwell at Brentford.

The Bees moved to sign the young left back from the Premier League champions after the former captain completed a move to QPR on July 1.

And Elder is well aware of Bidwell's impact at Griffin Park but is looking to make his own mark on the club.

He said: “I knew he was the captain at the club so he must have been a big influence and I know he'd played a lot of games for the club so he was consistent but I'm looking forward to making my own mark on the team and the club.

“It didn't weigh on my mind. I only thought I'm coming to a forward-looking club which I want to do as well.

“Brentford have achieved big things since stepping up into the Championship and I hope this season is another one of those.

“I can see positive signs and I'm looking forward to being with this squad and achieving big things with the team.”

Elder is targeting a long run of games for the Bees, especially after recovering from a ruptured toe, sustained while on loan at Peterborough last year.

He explained: “I want to get a good run of games in the team. I've been coming back from a long term injury and there's nothing better than first team football and to be given the chance at Brentford is a big opportunity and one I want to take with both hands.”
