No agreements are in place to stop Toumani Diagouraga playing against Brentford on Tuesday night, GetWestLondon can reveal.

The Bees midfielder is this weekend undergoing a medical ahead of of a move to Leeds United , which is all but complete, after six years with Brentford.

Diagouraga's new club are the visitors to Griffin Park in three day's time, and as far as manager Dean Smith is concerned, he is free to play as long as the deal has gone through.

Smith said: “I don't believe so (no agreements in place to stop Diagouraga playing). I believe everything is pretty much done and he's having a medical, so him facing us is a possibility.”

Stepped it up: Josh McEachran

Smith admits he'd like to replace the Frenchman with a new midfielder, but doesn't believe there's a pressing need following the performances of Josh McEachran and Ryan Woods in today's win at Preston .

He said: “It's a position we've been looking to strengthen, but Josh came into the team today, and I thought he was excellent. He and Woodsy showed signs of a blossoming partnership there.

“We've got Alan McCormack coming back from injury too, so we have more than enough players to cover that position.

“Josh got a whack on the knee, so that's why we brought him off. Alan is back running and back in training, and will probably be pencilled in for the Brighton game (on February 5).”

Left out: Marco Djuricin

Smith also revealed that Diagouraga's departure was the reason striker Marco Djuricin did not even make it into the squad at Preston.

He added: “Marco is fine, he travelled up with us. He came off at half time last week, I think he's just finding his feet coming back from injury.

“Toumani looks like he's going to Leeds United, and I needed to balance the bench off, and that was the reason we only went with the one forward.”
