Stuart Dallas insists he had no problem with the new regime at Brentford, and it was not behind his departure to Leeds United this week.

The popular winger's exit was met with dismay by Bees fans, as although Dallas could never be described as a regular, he would never let the side down when called on and chipped in with some vital goals.

In fact, the Northern Ireland international bagged eight for the Bees last term, including winners against Blackpool, Derby and Rotherham, and a stunning brace in the 4-1 rout of rivals Fulham.

But with Jonathan Douglas also leaving this week and Moses Odubajo set to follow out the exit door, some fans have questioned whether last season's old guard are rejecting the new way of doing things at Griffin Park.

This will be the first season that, rather than operating under an all-seeing and doing manager, the Bees will have a head coach responsible for training and preparing players, with scouting and transfers left to a separate network.

Dallas said: “It was a number of things. You want to play week in week out as much as you can, and I didn't always do that. Plus there were a lot of changes over the summer, with a lot of new faces coming in.

“The way things panned out, the time was right to move on and take on a fresh challenge. Leeds are a big club and it's something I couldn't turn down. That (the new approach) wasn't a factor. I can only speak for myself, but the stats have been around for a while, and we were using them all last season.

“I wish Brentford every success. You will have to see how they start, but there's no reason why they can't do as well as last season. I've got nothing but good things to say about the club as everybody there has been fantastic to me, including the new manager, and the fans have been tremendous and supported me all along.

“I had three very enjoyable years there, and obviously the promotion is a highlight. Scoring any goal is a good feeling, but getting two against your rivals in front of our fans was special and is something that will live with me forever.”
