Lasse Vibe may have scored twice at Ipswich to take his tally to five goals in three games but the Dane was in no mood to celebrate after Alan Judge's broken leg.

Brentford triumphed 3-1 at Ipswich but, judging by the mood of the players as they left Portman Road to board the team coach, it was almost as if the Bees had lost.

The Irishman was the victim of a horror tackle by Luke Hyam, who has subsequently apologised, and the west London club confirmed on Saturday evening that the 27-year-old had suffered a fracture to his leg.

And an upset Vibe, who paid tribute to Judge by imitating the Irishman's celebration after his second goal, was more concerned about his stricken team-mate than he was delighted with his own form.

He said: “The goals aren't really on my mind. The first was a cross from Maxime. I don't know if I was offside but I don't care.

“For the second, I think the defender tried to play the goalkeeper and I nicked and finished it.

He added: "The goals were for Judgey and those three points were for him. It's not going to help him. He's probably not in the best mood at the moment but we'll do what we can to help him.

"I think it was obviously a red card tackle. I don't care if you touch the ball or not; I don't care. If you come in like that it's always a red card in my opinion. It's not going to him his leg back and the lad got sent off anyway.”

Vibe was shaken by seeing his team-mate on the ground and in considerable distress and, along with the rest of the squad, his thoughts were with Judge and his family.

He explained: “You don't have the time to go through it on the pitch. For the 10 minutes it lasted when he was lying down you were thinking 'get me out of here'. It's nowhere to be.

“Then he was stretchered off and you're picking yourself up and get him a win. He's been our outstanding player this year.

“Everyone has associated Brentford with him. He's made an assist in every game he's played basically. He was doing well (for club and country) and my mind are with him and his family.”
