Kit Symons praised youngster Sean Kavanagh after he fired Fulham to victory against Norwich.

The 20-year-old, restored to the starting XI in place of the injured Fernando Amorebieta, bagged the only goal of the game to get the Cottagers back to winning ways.

"Sean’s a player I know very well from the 18s and the Under-21s and I wouldn’t wish that ball to fall to anyone other than him. He’s got a wonderful left foot," said Symons.

"It's his first one at senior level and a winning goal against the top of the table so it's one he'll remember for a long time."

Caretaker boss Symons boosted his chances of landing the job on a permanent basis with a fourth win in five games.

And he hailed his side's defensive display after coming under pressure for long spells.

He added: "It was a very tough game. They were not top of the table for no reason. There was some real resolute defending out there and there are a lot of tired players in the dressing room but they’re very, very pleased.

"At times we rode our luck. It was a display full of character which I was delighted with."
