Kit Symons has declared his interest in becoming the new Fulham boss on a permanent basis.

The 43-year-old is in pole position to succeed Felix Magath at the helm after being placed in temporary charge on Thursday.

Symons made more than 100 appearances for the Whites as a player and has earned plaudits for his job working with the club's U21s.

But the Wales assistant manager insists he's ready to step up to the plate.

Axed: Felix Magath was dismissed on Thursday

He said: “I’ve been a caretaker a few times and done other jobs at this club and elsewhere. I am ready to do it.

“It’s been a difficult time for the football club - there's no escape from one point from 21. It's not a great return by any stretch.

“Everybody wants and craves stability at Fulham and I aim to give that. I want everyone singing off the same hymn-sheet.

“No one understands the fabric of the football club better than me. I understand what the fans want, what the people working here want and what the players want now. I'm confident we can start moving up the table.”

Symons will get the chance to stake a claim when the Cottagers host Blackburn tomorrow. Keep up to date with all the action and reaction right here at GetWestLondon.
