Shahid Khan has given his backing to Fulham's under-fire boss Rene Meulensteen after talks this week.

The Craven Cottage chief has come under pressure after winning just three games in 11 games since taking charge in December, with Tuesday's FA Cup defeat to League One strugglers Sheffield United turning up the heat,

However, Meulensteen is confident is job is not under threat after speaking to owner Khan.

He said: “I have been in contact with him. We are keeping good dialogue and he has given me his full support.

“He told us to remain focused and optimistic. There are a lot of games and points to play and that's what I intend to do.

“It’s important [to get the owner’s support] but it’s even more important that I know the job I need to do with the players. That is what makes the difference and will turn things around.
