Brentford finished the season in heart breaking fashion as they were beaten 5-1 on aggregate in the Championship play-off semi final against Middlesbrough.

However, Bees fans will be able to look back at the campaign with fond memories as the club exceeded all expectations in their first season back in the second tier.

Fulham were defeated home and away in the league to give the red and white striped part of west London bragging rights over their local rivals.

The season was marred, however, by the announcement that Mark Warburton, David Weir and Frank McParland would leave the club at the end of the season.

It was also announced that McParland was to be placed on immediate gardening leave for the remainder of his contract.

The Bees snuck into the play-offs on the last day of the season after Derby were beaten 3-0 by Reading, while Ipswich suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Blackburn.

It was not to be Premier League football next season though as the club lost home and away to Middlesbrough in the play-offs, losing 5-1 on aggregate.
