Adebayo Akinfenwa and George Francomb are set to return from injury to feature for AFC Wimbledon on Sunday as they travel to third-place Portsmouth.

The Dons will look to bounce back from cup upset by claiming three league points after crashing out the FA Cup at the hands of non-league Forest Green.

The Beast, who today due to bench press Pudsey bear for Children in Need, is expected to play some part for Neal Ardley’s side despite continuing to nurse a thigh injury which forced him off against York City and then aggravated the forward during his team's win over Hartlepool.

Francomb was due to start last weekend’s FA Cup first round tie but was forced to sit the fixture after picking up a knock in training.

The winger could barely walk with a dead leg the day of the game but is expected to be included in Ardley’s plans for Portsmouth.

Pompey started the season impressively going undefeated in their opening 10 games but have only won two of their last six league fixtures.

Should be fit: Adebayo Akinfenwa

As well as Pompey’s recent dip in form, Ardley will take confidence from the knowledge that Portsmouth have struggled at home this season only winning twice at Fratton Park.

Recent records will also give Wimbledon some added self-belief with the Dons side undefeated in their last four encounters. Portsmouth have claimed three wins and one draw over the last three seasons.

The Dons have three wins on the bounce in the league and are scoring goals for fun netting nine times during their victories against Accrington Stanley, York City and Hartlepool.

Their recent threat in front of goal will be boosted by the return of Akinfenwa who will hope his constant physical presence can unsettle the Pompey back line and allow him to grab his fifth league goal of the season.

Although the return of Akinfenwa and Francomb give Ardley some pleasant selection choices, the Dons boss is still without Andy Barcham and James Shea.
